Set against the serene backdrop of rural Wales, this short documentary follows wildlife ecologist Lee Jenkins and his two German Pointers—Neo and pup-in-training Cariad—as they search for elusive otters. Using scent detection to guide camera trap placement, the team gathers crucial evidence to protect these endangered animals. Shot from a dog’s-eye view with immersive cinematography, the film offers a poetic glimpse into conservation through the nose and eyes of a canine detective. Produced by Sarah-Jane Walsh

Risky Routes

Risky Routes is a short wildlife film about toad migration in Switzerland and the life or death obstacles amphibians face each spring. Every year, thousands of toads make the arduous journey back to the waters of their birth to reproduce. They have to overcome numerous dangers along the way, from dangerous roads to other obstacles that turn their journey into a fight for survival. Produced by Roman Willi

A Home in the Grass

‘A Home in the Grass’ is a brief view into the world of Carly Davenport, a bird conservationist who is fighting to protect bird populations. Since 1970, North America has lost 3 billion birds, indicating a collapse in our wildlife ecosystem. As grassland bird populations continue to decline due to loss of habitat, Carly has left her own land as a home for endangered species like the Bobolink. Through her activism, Carly warns of dire consequences if we cannot reverse the damage that has been done to the natural world. Produced by Ryan Ward

Wood Pellet Wasteland

This short documentary reveals the environmental and human health impacts of industrial wood pellet production. The film centers around Drax and Enviva, two industrial biomass energy companies, that have established pellet manufacturing facilities in the southern United States and are working to expand operations into California. Produced by Rachel Carson Council

White River: Farming With Nature

The Nature Conservancy partners with local farmers to implement conservation practices that benefit water quality and biodiversity in the White River watershed. With good planning and support, these practices simultaneously benefit farm sustainability and resiliency. "Farming with Nature" defines the purpose of this collaboration and why it is important for the future of Indiana’s second largest river system and only watershed completely enclosed within its state borders. Seeds of Change

Filmed over the course of two-years, Seeds of Change chronicles the intersecting stories of lifelong farmer Mark McBrine and several incarcerated men as they grow their own food from a 5-acre prison garden unlike any other.

 

In a place where life is routinely defined by shame and despair, good food can be a gateway to meaning, wellness, and dignity. This is a story about the power of using organic agriculture as a means to reform our food systems and change the course of people’s lives. Produced by Maximilian Armstrong

The Conservation Kid

When young Cash Daniels learned that 80% of trash in the ocean comes from rivers, he knew he couldn’t wait for someone else to take action. At the age of seven, Cash, “The Conservation Kid,” began leading cleanups in the Tennessee River in his hometown, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Six years later, Cash continues to make a significant impact on the river’s health by strategically collecting fishing waste and inspiring his peers to protect the environment. The Onny's Story: A Fight for the Future

Recently, Severn Trent had decided to plan to build a pipeline divergence from a water treatment centre in Bishops Castle, to the river Onny just outside my village. This documentary uncovers the truth behind the development plan and the potential impact on the natural world as well as how people with different relations to the river had come together to stand against the pipeline in defence for the environment. Produced by Finley Middleton
